TANF StaffTEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES (TANF) 

 

 MISSION STATEMENT

The primary mission of the MCN TANF program is to increase self-sufficiency within our native families by breaking the cycle of dependency on welfare program.  The program will provide participants with assistance so they may care for their children in their own homes, with the education, tools and skills necessary to acquire and retain gainful employment; reduce the number of out of wedlock pregnancies, and to promote and encourage the formation and maintenance of two parent households.

 

 
 
Basic Criteria:
     •  At least one member of the assistance unit be a member of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and residing in one of the following counties: Creek, Hughes, Mayes, McIntosh, Muskogee, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Rogers, Seminole, Tulsa, Wagoner, or
     •  At least one member of the assistance unit be a member of a federally recognized Tribe and residing in Creek, Hughes, Okfuskee, or Okmulgee county, and
     •  Meet income guidelines, and
     •  Provide proof of custody, and
     •  Agree to and participate in 20-30 hour work activities weekly, and
     •  Pursue and cooperate with child support enforcement
