MUSCOGEE (CREEK) NATION ~ SECOND CHIEF ALFRED L. BERRYHILL

 2nd Chief Berryhill

Alfred Berryhill is the current Second Chief of the Muscogee Nation. Mr. Berryhill has a son Gregory, daughter-in-law Sherry, and two grandsons, Kenneth and Nicholas. His parents were Togo M. Berryhill, of the Deer clan, and Lillie Belle Starr from Arbeka Tribal Town and the Alligator clan. Mr. Berryhill resides in Okmulgee County. 

Mr. Berryhill graduated from Sequoyah Indian School and Haskell Institute. He also attended Oklahoma State University where he majored in Business Administration. 

Mr. Berryhill began his professional career as an Administrative Intern for the BIA in Washington D.C. He is a former Administrative Assistant for the Okmulgee Indian Health Center and he sits on several boards including the Muscogee Nation Business Enterprise Board, the Five Civilized Tribes Museum Board, the Okmulgee Council House and Museum Board, the Sequoyah Alumni Board and the Lord’s Helping Hand Board. He is currently overseeing the development of a Ministerial Alliance of Muscogee (Creek) Churches. He is part of the MCN Legal Services Commission, and the Museum Oversight Committee.  He also initiated the official Muscogee (Creek) Nation annual calendar.

Mr. Berryhill’s life is devoted to his ministry. He is a member of the Tallahassee Indian Methodist Church, where he is a deacon/exhorter and church board member. He makes himself available to do the Lord’s work whenever a Creek family is in need.

Mr. Berryhill has a passion for the Muscogee Creek people.  Ou history and culture are very important to him as well.  Part of his mission as Second Chief is to promote the culture in all facets of the Nation.  He reads, speaks, writes, and sings the Muscogee language fluently and is available to teach Creek Hymns to any Creek church upon request.

 

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation is a tribal government located in east central Oklahoma. The Creek Nation boundary includes eleven (11) Counties: Creek, Hughes (Tukvpvtce), Mayes, McIntosh, Muskogee, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Rogers, Seminole, Tulsa and Wagoner.
